Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2005

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 57 of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Minister for Manpower hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2005.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. Regulation 2 (1) of the Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme) Regulations (Rg 20) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately before the definition of “approved hospital”, the following definition:

“ “approved community hospital” means any premises which, in the opinion of the Minister for Health, provides an intermediate level of care for out-patients and in‑patients who have simple ailments that do not require specialist medical and nursing care and which is approved by that Minister for the purposes of these Regulations;”;

(b)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “approved hospital”, the following definition:

“ “approved medical practitioner” means any medical practitioner who is approved by the Minister for Health or such other person as he may appoint for the purposes of these Regulations;”;

(c)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “insured out‑patient medical treatment”, the following definition:

“ “medical practitioner” means any medical practitioner registered under the Medical Registration Act (Cap. 174) or any dentist registered under the Dentists Act (Cap. 76);”; and

(d)

by deleting the definition of “Saint Andrew’s Mission Hospital”.

Amendment of regulation 10

3. Regulation 10 of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “Saint Andrew’s Mission Hospital, Ang Mo Kio Hospital Limited, St. Luke’s Hospital for the Elderly Ltd or Bright Vision Hospital” wherever they appear in paragraph (4) and substituting in each case the words “any approved community hospital”; and
(b)	by deleting paragraph (4A).

Amendment of regulation 15

4. Regulation 15 (5) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “Saint Andrew’s Mission Hospital, Ang Mo Kio Hospital Limited, St. Luke’s Hospital for the Elderly Ltd or Bright Vision Hospital” wherever they appear and substituting in each case the words “any approved community hospital”.
