Passports (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 1999
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3(1) of the Passports Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Passports (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 1999 and shall come into operation on 9th April 1999.
Amendment of regulation 18
2.  Regulation 18 of the Passports Regulations (Rg 1) is amended —
(a)by deleting the words "on entering Singapore" in paragraph (3) and substituting the words ", an immigration officer may make a suitable endorsement on the passport before returning it to him, and";
(b)by deleting the words "at any time, deliver it up to that officer" in the last line of paragraph (3) and substituting the words "deliver the passport up to the Controller at such place and such time as the officer may specify"; and
(c)by inserting, immediately after paragraph (4), the following paragraphs:
(5)  Where the person specified in paragraph (2) fails to deliver his Singapore passport to the Controller within the time specified pursuant to paragraph (3), the Controller may cancel the passport and such passport shall thereupon be void.
(6)  Any Singapore passport which is delivered to the Controller in accordance with any requirement made under paragraph (3) may be cancelled by the Controller.
(7)  Any reference to a Singapore passport in paragraphs (2) to (6) shall include a reference to a Singapore certificate of identity or other similar document.”.
