(Protection from Online Falsehoods and
Manipulation) (Amendment) Rules 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 80 of the Supreme Court of Judicature Act 1969 and all other powers enabling us under any written law, we, the Rules Committee, make the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Supreme Court of Judicature (Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation) (Amendment) Rules 2022 and come into operation on 1 April 2022.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  Rule 2(1) of the Supreme Court of Judicature (Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation) Rules 2019 (G.N. No. S 665/2019) (called in these Rules the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the words “body corporate body” in paragraph (c)(ii) of the definition of “appellant” and substituting the words “body corporate”.
Amendment of rule 4
3.  Rule 4 of the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Rules of Court (R 5)” in paragraph (1) and substituting the words “Rules of Court 2021”;
(b)by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraphs:
(2)  The following provisions of the Rules of Court 2021 do not apply to, or in respect of, an appeal mentioned in rule 3:
(a)Order 6, Rules 11, 12, 13 and 14;
(b)Order 15, Rule 7(6)(c);
(c)Order 20, Rules 3, 4, 5 and 6;
(d)Order 25, Rule 3(1), (3) and (6).
(3)  Order 20, Rule 7(1) of the Rules of Court 2021 applies to an appeal mentioned in rule 3, subject to the modification that the reference in that provision to “Order 19, Rule 7” is to be read as a reference to “Order 19, Rule 7(3), (7) and (8)”.”; and
(c)by deleting the words “Rules of Court” in the rule heading and substituting the words “Rules of Court 2021”.
Amendment of rule 6
4.  Rule 6 of the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Order 63A of the Rules of Court” in paragraph (1)(b)(ii) and substituting the words “Order 28 of the Rules of Court 2021”; and
(b)by deleting the words “Order 63A, Rule 12(4)” in paragraph (2)(b) and substituting the words “Order 28, Rule 12(5) of the Rules of Court 2021”.
Amendment of rule 12
5.  Rule 12(2) of the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Order 91, Rule 1(1) of the Rules of Court” and substituting the words “Order 25, Rule 2(1) of the Rules of Court 2021”; and
(b)by deleting the words “Appendix B of the Rules of Court” and substituting the words “the Fourth Schedule to the Rules of Court 2021”.
Amendment of First Schedule
6.  The First Schedule to the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “as in Form 78 of Appendix A of the Rules of Court” in Forms 2 and 3 and substituting in each case the words “on [date] at [location] (through the interpretation of [name of interpreter])”.
Miscellaneous amendments
7.  The principal Rules are amended —
(a)by deleting the words “originating summons” wherever they appear in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “originating application”:
Rule 5(1), (2), (3) and (4)(a)
Rule 6(1) and (2) and rule heading
Rule 7(3)
Rule 9(1), (2)(a) and (b), (3)(a) and (4)
Rule 10
Rule 12(1)
Second Schedule (item 1 of Part 1);
(b)by deleting the word “leave” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the word “permission”:

Rule 10(a)
Rule 16;
(c)by deleting the word “Leave” in the following provision and substituting the word “Permission”:
Rule 16 (rule heading);
(d)by deleting the words “ORIGINATING SUMMONS” in the following provision and substituting the words “ORIGINATING APPLICATION”:
First Schedule (Form 1);
(e)by deleting the word “O.S.” in the following provision and substituting the word “O.A.”:
First Schedule (Form 1);
(f)by deleting the word “summons” in the following provision and substituting the words “originating application”:
First Schedule (Form 1); and
(g)by deleting the word “summons” wherever it appears in the following provision and substituting in each case the words “originating application”:
First Schedule (Form 1).
