(Amendment) Rules 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred on us by section 80 of the Supreme Court of Judicature Act 1969 and all other powers enabling us under any written law, we, the Rules Committee, make the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Supreme Court of Judicature (Organised Crime) (Amendment) Rules 2022 and come into operation on 1 April 2022.
Amendment of rule 4
2.  Rule 4 of the Supreme Court of Judicature (Organised Crime) Rules 2016 (G.N. No. S 237/2016) (called in these Rules the principal Rules) is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Rules of Court (R 5)” and substituting the words “Rules of Court 2021 (G.N. No. S 914/2021)”; and
(b)by deleting the words “Rules of Court” in the rule heading and substituting the words “Rules of Court 2021”.
Amendment of rule 5
3.  Rule 5 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “originating summons” in paragraph (b) and substituting the words “originating application”.
Amendment of rule 12
4.  Rule 12(3) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting sub‑paragraph (b) and substituting the following sub‑paragraph:
(b)serve a copy of the order on the Accountant‑General or the company the securities of which are the subject of the charging order, as is appropriate.”.
Amendment of rule 20
5.  Rule 20(1) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “Order 30, Rules 2 to 6 of the Rules of Court (R 5)” and substituting the words “Order 13, Rule 9 of the Rules of Court 2021”.
Amendment of rule 22
6.  Rule 22(2) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “Order 73, Rule 3 of the Rules of Court (R 5)” in sub‑paragraph (b) and substituting the words “Order 59, Rule 3 of the Rules of Court 2021”.
Amendment of rule 26
7.  Rule 26 of the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Order 24 of the Rules of Court (R 5) (other than Order 24, Rule 18 of the Rules of Court)” in paragraph (1) and substituting the words “Order 11 of the Rules of Court 2021”; and
(b)by deleting the words “Order 24 of the Rules of Court” in paragraphs (3), (4) and (5) and substituting in each case the words “Order 11 of the Rules of Court 2021”.
Amendment of rule 27
8.  Rule 27 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “Rules of Court (R 5)” and substituting the words “Rules of Court 2021”.
Miscellaneous amendments
9.  The principal Rules are amended —
(a)by deleting the words “ex parte application” in the following provision and substituting the words “application without notice”:
Rule 14(1);
(b)by deleting the words “ex parte” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “without notice”:
Rule 23(1) and (2)
Rule 24(1); and
(c)by deleting the word “leave” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the word “permission”:
Rule 23(6)
Rule 24(2).
