Medicines (Prescription Only) (Amendment) Order 2000

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 29 of the Medicines Act, the Minister for Health hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Medicines (Prescription Only) (Amendment) Order 2000 and shall come into operation on 17th January 2000.

Amendment of paragraph 2

2. Paragraph 2(1) of the Medicines (Prescription Only) Order (O 15) (referred to in this Order as the principal Order) is amended by inserting, immediately after the definition of “maximum supply”, the following definition:

“ “minimum age” means the minimum age of a person at which a particular medicinal product may be administered;”.

Amendment of paragraph 6

3. Paragraph 6 of the principal Order is amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “and” in the last line of sub-paragraph (b); and

(b)

by deleting the full-stop at the end of sub-paragraph (c) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:

“(d)	the medicines is sold or supplied to a person who is of or above any minimum age specified in the fifth column of that Part of the First Schedule in respect of that medicine.”.

Deletion and substitution of First Schedule

4. The First Schedule to the principal Order is deleted and the following Schedule substituted therefor:

Paragraphs 2(2), 4 and 6
