(Vocational Licences and Conduct of Drivers,
Conductors, Trishaw Riders and Passengers)
(Amendment No. 2) Rules 2016

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 111 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Vocational Licences and Conduct of Drivers, Conductors, Trishaw Riders and Passengers) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2016 and come into operation on 6 May 2016.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2 of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Vocational Licences and Conduct of Drivers, Conductors, Trishaw Riders and Passengers) Rules (R 8) (called in these Rules the principal Rules) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the definition of “assessment report” and substituting the following definition:

“ “assessment report” means an assessment report prepared in accordance with rule 4(3);”; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “certificate of fitness”, the following definition:

“ “Class 3 bus” means a bus the weight of which unladen does not exceed 2,500 kilograms;”.

Amendment of rule 4

3. Rule 4 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting sub‑paragraph (i) of paragraph (2)(d) and substituting the following sub‑paragraphs:

“(i)

in the case of an application to drive a Class 3 bus or a taxi for any period after the applicant has attained the age of 70 years —

(A)	an assessment report; and
(B)	a certificate from a medical practitioner stating that the applicant is not suffering from tuberculosis;

(ia)

in the case of an application to drive any other bus for any period after the applicant has attained the age of 70 years, a certificate from a medical practitioner stating that the applicant is not suffering from tuberculosis; or”; and

(b)

by deleting the words “a bus” in paragraph (3)(b)(iii) and substituting the words “a Class 3 bus”.

Amendment of rule 9

4. Rule 9(1) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “a bus” in sub‑paragraph (b) and substituting the words “a Class 3 bus”.
