Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) (Election Meetings — Composition of Offences) Rules 2006
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) of the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act, read with section 199A of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cap. 68), the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) (Election Meetings — Composition of Offences) Rules 2006 and shall come into operation on 21st April 2006.
Compoundable offences
2.—(1)  The following offences under the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) (Election Meetings) Rules 2006 (G.N. No. S 236/2006) may be compounded by the Commissioner of Police in accordance with section 199A of the Criminal Procedure Code:
(a)any offence under rule 3(2) for contravening any condition of an election meeting permit specified in rule 5(1) or imposed under rule 5(2) of those Rules; and
(b)any offence under rule 6(4), (6) or (7) or 7(3) of those Rules.
(2)  The Commissioner of Police may compound any offence specified in paragraph (1) by collecting from the person reasonably suspected of having committed the offence a sum of money not exceeding $1,000.
