Sale of Food Act
(Chapter 283)
Food (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2000
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 38(1) of the Sale of Food Act, the Minister for the Environment hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Food (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2000 and shall come into operation on 1st June 2000.
Amendment of regulation 21
2.  Regulation 21 of the Food Regulations (Rg 1) is amended by deleting paragraph (2A) and substituting the following paragraph:
(2A)  Non-alcoholic drinks may contain —
(a)ester gum in an amount not exceeding 100 ppm; and
(b)sucrose acetate isobutyrate in an amount not exceeding 300 ppm.”.
Amendment of Seventh Schedule
3.  The Seventh Schedule to the Food Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately below the item relating to “Gums”, the item “Konjac flour;”.
Amendment of Eight Schedule
4.  The Eighth Schedule to the Food Regulations is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately below the item “Inositol;”, the item “Iron citrate;”; and
(b)by deleting the full-stop at the end of the item “Vitamin D3” and substituting a semi-colon, and by inserting, immediately thereafter, the item “Zinc gluconate.”.
Amendment of Ninth Schedule
5.  The Ninth Schedule to the Food Regulations is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately below the item relating to “Endo-protease”, the item “Erythritol;”;
(b)by inserting, immediately below the item “Magnesium stearate;”, the item “Magnesium sulphate;”;
(c)by inserting, immediately below the item “Potassium carbonate;”, the item “Potassium chloride;”; and
(d)by inserting, immediately below the item “Sodium sesquicarbonate;”, the item “Sodium sulphate;”.
