(Professional Conduct)
(Amendment) Rules 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 71(2) of the Legal Profession Act 1966, the Professional Conduct Council makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Legal Profession (Professional Conduct) (Amendment) Rules 2022 and come into operation on 1 April 2022.
Miscellaneous amendments
2.  The Legal Profession (Professional Conduct) Rules 2015 (G.N. No. S 706/2015) are amended —
(a)by deleting the word “leave” in rule 12(2) and substituting the word “permission”;
(b)by deleting the words “has been called, or has been issued a subpoena, to appear in a court” in rule 12(7) and substituting the words “has been called to appear in a court or has been issued an order to attend court”;
(c)by deleting the words “of settlement” in rule 17(2)(c) and (d) and substituting in each case the words “of amicable resolution”;
(d)by deleting the words “the taxation” wherever they appear in rule 17(6) and substituting in each case the words “the assessment”;
(e)by deleting the word “taxation” in rule 17(6)(a) and (7) and substituting in each case the word “assessment”;
(f)by deleting the words “a taxation” in rule 17(6)(b) and substituting the words “an assessment”;
(g)by deleting the word “taxed” in rule 17(4)(b) and (5) and substituting in each case the word “assessed”;
(h)by deleting the words “Rules of Court (Cap. 322, R 5)” in rule 28(1) and substituting the words “Rules of Court 2021 (G.N. No. S 914/2021)”;
(i)by deleting the words “Rules of Court” in rule 28(3)(a) and substituting the words “Rules of Court 2021”;
(j)by deleting the words “ex parte application” in rule 30(3) and substituting the words “application without notice”; and
(k)by deleting the words “ex parte applications” in rule 30(3) and substituting the words “applications without notice”.
