(Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing)
(Amendment No. 4) Rules 2013

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 4) Rules 2013 and shall come into operation on 24th April 2013.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2(1) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the definition of “Euro IV vehicle” and substituting the following definitions:

“ “Euro IV standard”, in relation to any vehicle, means a standard for exhaust emission which complies with any of the standards specified in Part II of the Second Schedule to the Environmental Protection and Management (Vehicular Emissions) Regulations (Cap. 94A, Rg 6);

“Euro V standard”, in relation to any vehicle, means a standard for exhaust emission which complies with the standard specified in Table 1 of Annex I of Regulation (EC) No. 715/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20th June 2007;”.

Amendment of rule 9B

3. Rule 9B(5) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “is a Euro IV vehicle” in paragraphs (e), (f), (g) and (j) and substituting in each case the words “uses diesel exclusively as its source of power, complies with the Euro IV standard”.

Amendment of rule 9C

4. Rule 9C(8) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “its source of power and is not a Euro V vehicle” and substituting the words “one of its sources of power and does not comply with the Euro V standard”.
