Road Traffic (Exemption of
Heavy Vehicles) Order 1994
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Communications hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Exemption of Heavy Vehicles) Order 1994 and shall come into operation on 1st July 1994.
Exemption
2.—(1)  Section 10B of the Act and rule 28 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules [R 5] shall not apply to —
(a)any heavy vehicle belonging to the Government;
(b)any bus used for public transportation registered in the name of —
(i)Singapore Bus Service (1978) Ltd.;
(ii)Trans-Island Bus Services Ltd.;
(iii)Singapore Shuttle Bus Pte. Ltd.; or
(iv)Singapore-Johore Express Pte. Ltd.;
(c)any heavy vehicle registered in the name of any statutory board; or
(d)any vehicle specified in section 14 (a), (b), (c), (d), (e) or (f) of the Act which is a heavy vehicle.
(2)  Section 19(3)(e) of the Act shall not apply to any heavy vehicle referred to in paragraph (1)(b) and (c).
(3)  For the purpose of this Order, “heavy vehicle” means a heavy vehicle within the meaning of the Parking Places Act [Cap. 214].
