Environmental Public Health Act
(Chapter 95)
Environmental Public Health (Crematoria) (Amendment) Regulations 2005
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 111 of the Environmental Public Health Act, the National Environment Agency, with the approval of the Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Environmental Public Health (Crematoria) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 and shall come into operation on 29th April 2005.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  Regulation 2 of the Environmental Public Health (Crematoria) Regulations (Rg 6) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “Government” in the definition of “caretaker” and substituting the word “Director-General”;
(b)by deleting the semi-colon at the end of the definition of “registered medical practitioner” and substituting a full-stop; and
(c)by deleting the definition of “Superintendent”.
Deletion of regulation 3
3.  Regulation 3 of the principal Regulations is deleted.
Amendment of regulation 4
4.  Regulation 4 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Form A set out in the Schedule” in paragraph (1) and substituting the words “such form as the Director-General may require”;
(b)by deleting the words “the Commissioner or a public health officer” in paragraph (2) and substituting the words “the Director-General or an authorised officer”; and
(c)by deleting paragraph (3) and substituting the following paragraph:
(3)  The fee payable for the grant or renewal of a licence shall be $170.”.
Amendment of regulation 7
5.  Regulation 7 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “the Superintendent” in the 2nd line and substituting the words “an authorised officer”; and
(b)by deleting the words “and duly confirmed by a registered medical practitioner in the service of the Government” in paragraph (c)(ii).
Amendment of regulation 11
6.  Regulation 11 (1) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “The Commissioner or a medical officer of health, public health engineer or public health officer” in the 1st and 2nd lines and substituting the words “The Director-General or an authorised officer”.
Amendment of regulation 12
7.  Regulation 12 (3) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “The Superintendent, public health officer,” and substituting the words “An authorised officer, the”.
Amendment of regulation 15
8.  Regulation 15 (2) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “the Superintendent” and substituting the words “an authorised officer”.
Amendment of regulation 18
9.  Regulation 18 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “Mount Vernon Crematoria” and substituting the words “Mandai Crematorium and Columbarium Complex”.
Deletion of Schedule
10.  The Schedule to the principal Regulations is deleted.
Miscellaneous amendment
11.  The principal Regulations are amended by deleting the word “Commissioner” wherever it appears in regulations 8 (1), 10(1) (2nd line), (4), (5) and (6), 13, 16 and 17 (a) and substituting in each case the word “Director-General”.
