Medicines (Cosmetic Products) (Specification and Prohibition) Order 1996 |

Citation and commencement |
1. This Order may be cited as the Medicines (Cosmetic Products) (Specification and Prohibition) Order 1996 and shall come into operation on 1st June 1997. |

2. In this Order —

Types of cosmetic products to which Order does not apply |
3. This Order shall not apply to —

Cosmetic products subject to provisions of Act |
Prohibition on sale, etc., of certain cosmetic products |
5. The sale, supply or importation of any cosmetic product which fails to comply with any of the requirements set out in paragraph 6 is, under section 30 of the Act, prohibited as it appears to the Minister to be necessary to do so in the interest of safety. |
Restrictions on inclusion of certain substances |
6.—(1) A cosmetic product shall not contain any substance listed in Part I of the Third Schedule.

Existing law not affected |
7. Nothing in this Order shall operate to relieve any person of any duty or liability imposed upon him by the provisions of any other written law for the time being in force. |
