Parking Places Act

Parking Places (Urban Redevelopment
Authority) Order 1997
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 4 and 9 of the Parking Places Act, the Minister for Communications hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order may be cited as the Parking Places (Urban Redevelopment Authority) Order 1997 and shall come into operation on 6th June 1997.
Definitions
2.  In this Order —
“Form” means any form of a parking coupon set out in the Second Schedule to the Parking Places (Coupon Parking) Rules (R 3);
“monthly parking coupon” means a parking coupon in Form 13 or 14 set out in the Second Schedule to the Parking Places (Coupon Parking) Rules;
“whole day parking coupon” means a parking coupon in Form 5, 6, 7 or 8 set out in the Second Schedule to the Parking Places (Coupon Parking) Rules (R 3).
Parking places
3.—(1)  The roads and lands set out in the Schedule are hereby authorised for use as parking places.
(2)  Copies of the Plans referred to in the Schedule are available for inspection by the public free of charge during normal office hours at the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Car Parks (Urban Redevelopment Authority) Car Parks Division, 50 Market Street #10-00, Golden Shoe Car Park.
Charges
4.—(1)  Except where a whole day or monthly parking coupon is used, the charges set out in each Part of the Schedule shall be payable for the parking of vehicles in any of the parking places specified in that Part.
(2)  A person who has his place of residence in the vicinity of any of the parking places specified in Parts I, II, III, IV and V of the Schedule may, at the discretion of the Superintendent, be allowed a reduced charge of $55 per month for the parking of a motor car or a motor vehicle the weight of which unladen does not exceed 1,500 kilograms in any of those parking places.
(3)  Where a person has been allowed the reduced charge under sub-paragraph (2) for the parking of a vehicle in a parking place for any month of the year but who does not in fact have his place of residence in the vicinity of the parking place throughout the whole period of that month, he shall upon demand, by the Superintendent pay, within 14 days of such demand in writing, the difference between the full amount of the charge payable for the parking of a vehicle in the parking place per month as set out in the Schedule and reduced charge.
(4)  No person referred to in sub-paragraph (2) shall be allowed the reduced charge for more than one vehicle.
(5)  Where 2 or more persons referred to in sub-paragraph (2) have their place of residence in the same dwelling unit, only one of such persons shall be allowed the reduced charge and for one vehicle only.
(6)  A person who, pursuant to sub-paragraph (2), has been allowed the reduced charge shall inform the Superintendent of any change of his place of residence within 7 days of such change.
(7)  In sub-paragraph (2), “place of residence” means the address of a person in Singapore that is for the time being registered with the National Registration Office.
(8)  Where a person is neither a citizen of Singapore nor a person registered under the National Registration Act (Cap. 201), he shall for the purposes of sub-paragraph (2) furnish to the satisfaction of the Superintendent proof of his place of residence in Singapore.
Charges for whole day or monthly parking coupons
5.  There shall be payable for the whole day or monthly parking coupons as set out in the Forms in the first column the charges set out opposite thereto in the second column:

Revocation
6.  The Parking Places (Urban Redevelopment Authority) Order (O 2) is revoked.
