Parking Places Act
(Chapter 214)
Parking Places (Provision of Parking Places and Parking Spaces) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2000
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 of the Parking Places Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Parking Places (Provision of Parking Places and Parking Spaces) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2000 and shall come into operation on 1st July 2000.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  Rule 2 of the Parking Places (Provision of Parking Places and Parking Spaces) Rules (R 5) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the full-stop at the end of the definition of “former competent authority” and substituting a semi-colon, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following definition:
“ “qualified person” has the same meaning as in section 2(1) of the Building Control Act (Cap. 29).”.
Deletion and substitution of rule 3
3.  Rule 3 of the principal Rules is deleted and the following rule substituted therefor:
Proposals and plans
3.—(1)  Subject to paragraph (2), every developer shall, immediately upon obtaining the approval of the competent authority, submit an application to the Authority for the approval of proposals and plans for the provision of parking places and parking spaces on the land to be developed or on such other place as the Authority may permit.
(2)  In the case of the provision of open surface parking places and parking spaces, the developer thereof shall, immediately upon obtaining the approval of the competent authority, lodge the relevant proposals and plans with the Authority accompanied by a declaration made by a qualified person in such form as the Authority may require.”.
Amendment of rule 9
4.  Rule 9 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “application for approval of any proposal or plan submitted” in the 2nd and 3rd lines and substituting the words “lodgment, or application for approval, of any proposal or plan”.
