Education Endowment Scheme Act
(Chapter 87A)
Education Endowment Scheme (Prescribed Schools) (Amendment) Regulations 2004
In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph (d) of the definition of “prescribed school” in section 2 (1) and section 24(f) of the Education Endowment Scheme Act, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Senior Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Education, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the Education Endowment Scheme (Prescribed Schools) (Amendment) Regulations 2004 and shall, with the exception of regulation 2(a) and (b), be deemed to have come into operation on 12th January 2004.
(2)  Regulation 2(a) shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1st January 2004.
(3)  Regulation 2(b) shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1st May 2003.
Amendment of Schedule
2.  The Schedule to the Education Endowment Scheme (Prescribed Schools) Regulations (Rg 1) is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after item (6) under the heading “Independent Schools”, the following items:
(7) Singapore Sports School
 
1st January 2004.
(8) National University of Singapore High School of Mathematics and Science
 
1st January 2005.
”;
(b)by deleting item (2) under the heading “ Special Education Schools” and substituting the following item:
(2) Canossian School (formerly known as Canossian School for the Hearing Impaired)
 
1st January 1996.
”;
(c)by deleting items (5), (6) and (7) under the heading “Special Education Schools” and substituting the following items:
(5) Katong School (formerly known as Katong Special School)
 
1st January 1996.
(6) Chao Yang School (formerly known as Chao Yang Special School)
 
1st January 1996.
(7) Jervois School (formerly known as Jervois Special School)
 
1st January 1996.
”; and
(d)by deleting item (16) under the heading “ Special Education Schools” and substituting the following item:
(16) Tanglin School (formerly known as Tanglin Special School)
 
1st January 2000.
”.
