Education Endowment Scheme Act
(Chapter 87A)
Education Endowment Scheme (Edusave Pupils Fund) (Amendment) Regulations 2004
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 24 of the Education Endowment Scheme Act, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Senior Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Education, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Education Endowment Scheme (Edusave Pupils Fund) (Amendment) Regulations 2004 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1st January 2004.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  Regulation 2 of the Education Endowment Scheme (Edusave Pupils Fund) Regulations (Rg 4) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after the definition of “institution of higher learning”, the following definition:
“ “integrated programme” means an education programme which provides an integrated secondary and pre-university education;”; and
(b)by deleting the definition of “sibling”.
Deletion and substitution of regulation 3
3.  Regulation 3 of the principal Regulations is deleted and the following regulation substituted therefor:
Requirements for membership in Edusave Pupils Fund
3.  A child shall become a member of the Edusave Pupils Fund if, in addition to satisfying the requirement of section 8(a) of the Act, he is a pupil of a prescribed school.”.
Deletion of regulation 4
4.  Regulation 4 of the principal Regulations is deleted.
Deletion and substitution of regulation 5
5.  Regulation 5 of the principal Regulations is deleted and the following regulation substituted therefor:
Ministry to determine eligibility of child for membership in Edusave Pupils Fund
5.—(1)  The Ministry shall determine the eligibility of every pupil of a prescribed school for membership in the Edusave Pupils Fund.
(2)  The Ministry may require the parents or guardian of the pupil to furnish such information as the Ministry considers necessary to make its determination.”.
Amendment of regulation 6
6.  Regulation 6 of the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after paragraph (e), the following paragraph:
(ea)in the case of a member who is enrolled in an integrated programme in a prescribed school or junior college, such fees and charges payable by him to the prescribed school or junior college as may be approved by the Minister;”.
