Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2008

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10A(4) of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2008 and shall come into operation on 1st July 2008.

Amendment of rule 3

2. Rule 3 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) Rules (R 31) is amended by deleting sub-paragraphs (a) and (b) of paragraph (1) and substituting the following sub-paragraphs:

“(a)

category A for —

(i)	cars having an aggregate cylinder capacity not exceeding 1,600 cubic centimetres;
(ii)	electric cars having a power rating not exceeding 57.5 kilowatts, where the certificate of entitlement is issued before 2nd July 2008;
(iii)	electric cars having a power rating not exceeding 70 kilowatts, where the certificate of entitlement is issued on or after 2nd July 2008;
(iv)	hybrid cars having an aggregate cylinder capacity not exceeding 1,600 cubic centimetres and having a maximum power rating not exceeding 57.5 kilowatts, where the certificate of entitlement is issued before 2nd July 2008;
(v)	hybrid cars having an aggregate cylinder capacity not exceeding 1,600 cubic centimetres and having a maximum power rating not exceeding 70 kilowatts, where the certificate of entitlement is issued on or after 2nd July 2008; and
(vi)	taxis;

(b)

category B for —

(i)	cars having an aggregate cylinder capacity exceeding 1,600 cubic centimetres;
(ii)	electric cars having a power rating exceeding 57.5 kilowatts, where the certificate of entitlement is issued before 2nd July 2008;
(iii)	electric cars having a power rating exceeding 70 kilowatts, where the certificate of entitlement is issued on or after 2nd July 2008;
(iv)	hybrid cars having an aggregate cylinder capacity exceeding 1,600 cubic centimetres or having a maximum power rating exceeding 57.5 kilowatts, where the certificate of entitlement is issued before 2nd July 2008; and
(v)	hybrid cars having an aggregate cylinder capacity exceeding 1,600 cubic centimetres or having a maximum power rating exceeding 70 kilowatts, where the certificate of entitlement is issued on or after 2nd July 2008;”.
