Singapore Broadcasting Authority (Broadcasting and Television)(Amendment) Regulations 1996

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 79 of the Singapore Broadcasting Authority Act, the Singapore Broadcasting Authority, with the approval of the Minister for Information and the Arts, hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Singapore Broadcasting Authority (Broadcasting and Television) (Amendment) Regulations 1996 and shall come into operation on 1st July 1996.

2. Regulation 5 of the Singapore Broadcasting Authority (Broadcasting and Television) Regulations is amended by deleting paragraphs (1), (2), (3), (4) and (5) and substituting the following paragraphs:

“(1) The fee for any licence shall be payable in advance and shall be —

(a)	in the case of a licence for 12 months, the fee set out in the First Schedule; and
(b)	in the case of a licence for any other period, the pro-rata rate of the appropriate annual licence fee set out in the First Schedule.

(2) Subject to regulation 37(1), a licence (other than a licence for a broadcast sound receiver installed in a vehicle) shall be valid from the first day of the month in which it is issued, and remain valid for such period as the licensing authority may determine unless it is sooner determined in accordance with these Regulations.

(3) A licence for a broadcast sound receiver installed in a vehicle shall, as from the date of its issue, be valid for such period as the licensing authority may determine unless it is sooner determined in accordance with these Regulations.

(4) Where a licence has expired, it shall, subject to regulation 37(1), be renewable for such period as the licensing authority may determine by the issue of a fresh licence commencing on the day following the date of expiry of the previous licence.”.

3. The First Schedule to the Singapore Broadcasting Authority (Broadcasting and Television) Regulations is amended by deleting item 2 and substituting the following item:

“

Licence for a broadcast sound receiver

$27 for 12 months.

”.
