Town Council of Aljunied (Conservancy and Service Charges) By-laws 1997

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 24(1) of the Town Councils Act, the Town Council for the Town of Aljunied hereby makes the following By-laws:

Citation and commencement

1. These By-laws may be cited as the Town Council of Aljunied (Conservancy and Service Charges) By-laws 1997 and shall come into operation on 1st July 1997.

Definitions

2. In these By-laws, unless the context otherwise requires —

“Aljunied Division” means any area of the Town of Aljunied other than Bedok Division and Eunos Division;

“Bedok Division” means the area of the Town of Aljunied bounded by Upper Changi Road East, Sungei Bedok, Pan Island Expressway, Bedok North Avenue 3 (western boundary of Bedok Town Park), Bedok Reservoir Road, Tampines Avenue 1 near Tampines Safra, Tampines Avenue 5 adjoining Pan Island Expressway;

“Eunos Division” means the area of the Town of Aljunied bounded by Bedok North Avenue 3, Bedok Reservoir Road, Tampines Avenue 1, imaginary line from the culdesac of Tampines Avenue 1 through the boundary of Bedok Reservoir Park to the culdesac of Bedok North Road, Bedok Reservoir Road adjoining Kaki Bukit Avenue 1, Jalan Tenaga, Bedok Reservoir Road near Eunos Mansion leading to Eunos Link/Jalan Eunos, Pan Island Expressway stopping at the exit point to Bedok North Avenue 3 (eastern boundary of Bedok Town Park).

Conservancy and service charges

3. Every owner or tenant of every flat in any residential or commercial property and every tenant of every stall in any market or food centre of the Board within Aljunied Division, Bedok Division and Eunos Division shall pay to the Town Council on the first day of each month the appropriate conservancy and service charges set out in Parts I, II and III, respectively, of the Schedule.

Goods and services tax

4.—(1) The conservancy and service charges specified in —

(a)	items 1 to 7 in Part I of the Schedule;
(b)	items 1 to 6 in Part II of the Schedule; and
(c)	items 1 to 9 in Part III of the Schedule,

are inclusive of the goods and services tax chargeable under the Goods and Services Tax Act (Cap. 117A) on the services in respect of which such conservancy and service charges are payable.

(2) The conservancy and service charges specified in —

(a)	items 8 to 18 in Part I of the Schedule;
(b)	items 7 to 15 in Part II of the Schedule; and
(c)	items 10 to 20 in Part III of the Schedule,

are not inclusive of goods and services tax chargeable under the Goods and Services Tax Act on the services in respect of which such conservancy and service charges are payable, and the owner or tenant shall bear and pay to the Town Council the goods and services tax charged on the supply of such services in addition to the appropriate conservancy and service charges.

Revocation

5. The Town Council of Aljunied (Conservancy and Service Charges) By-laws (By 59) are revoked.
