Legal Aid and Advice Act
(Chapter 160)
Legal Aid and Advice (Amendment) Regulations 2007
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 23(1) of the Legal Aid and Advice Act, the Minister for Law hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Aid and Advice (Amendment) Regulations 2007 and shall come into operation on 1st July 2007.
Amendment of regulation 4
2.  Regulation 4(1) of the Legal Aid and Advice Regulations (Rg 1) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting the words “next friend or guardian ad litem” wherever they appear and substituting in each case the word “guardian”.
Amendment of regulation 8
3.  Regulation 8 (1) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting “$7,000” in sub-paragraph (f) (i) and (ii) and substituting in each case “$10,000”.
Amendment of regulation 14
4.  Regulation 14 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “sections 61 and 62, or Chapters 4 and 5 of Part IX” in paragraph (9) and substituting the words “sections 68, 69 and 70, or Chapters 4 and 5 of Part X”; and
(b)by deleting the words “section 56” in paragraph (10) and substituting the words “section 59”.
Amendment of Schedule
5.  The Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the following words under the heading “STATUTORY DECLARATION BY APPLICANT” at the end of Form 1:

and substituting the following words:
UNKNOWN
(b)by deleting the words “NEXT FRIEND OR GUARDIAN AD LITEM” in the heading of Form 2 and substituting the word “GUARDIAN”; and
(c)by deleting the following words under the heading “STATUTORY DECLARATION BY APPLICANT” at the end of Form 2:
UNKNOWN
and substituting the following words:
UNKNOWN
