(Chapter 206)
Newspaper and Printing Presses (Exemption) Notification 2002
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 34 of the Newspaper and Printing Presses Act, the Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, hereby makes the following Notification:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Notification may be cited as the Newspaper and Printing Presses (Exemption) Notification 2002 and shall come into operation on 14th January 2002.
Exemption
2.—(1)  Subject to sub-paragraph (2), the Minister hereby exempts, from section 14 of the Act, any newspaper transmitted electronically via the NewspaperDirect service to Rexel Technologies Asia Pte Ltd for printing or publishing in Singapore.
(2)  The exemption under sub-paragraph (1) shall be subject to the following conditions:
(a)Rexel Technologies Asia Pte Ltd shall obtain the prior written approval of the Registrar for the printing or publishing in Singapore of each newspaper referred to in sub-paragraph (1); and
(b)the Registrar may, at any time, by written notice to Rexel Technologies Asia Pte Ltd, revoke any written approval referred to in sub-paragraph (a).
(3)  In this paragraph, “NewspaperDirect service” means the newspaper delivery service provided by NewspaperDirect, Inc, a company incorporated in British Columbia, Canada.
