Road Traffic
(Thaipusam Chariot Procession — Exemption)
Order 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Order:
Citation and period in force
1.—(1)  This Order is the Road Traffic (Thaipusam Chariot Procession — Exemption) Order 2022.
(2)  This Order is in force on 17 January 2022 from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Definitions
2.  In this Order —
“chariot” means the vehicles bearing the vehicle registration numbers YM7452T and YG5292H;
“Chettiars’ Temple Society” means the society registered under the Societies Act 1966 as Chettiars’ Temple Society (UEN T04SS0015B);
“specified footway” means the part of the footway along New Bridge Road adjacent to the ERP gantry at New Bridge Road that is delineated by the black‑coloured line in the map set out in the Schedule;
“Thaipusam Chariot Procession” means the event organised by Chettiars’ Temple Society on 17 January 2022.
Exemption
3.  Rule 28(1) of the Road Traffic Rules (R 20) does not apply to the driving of the chariot, for the purpose of the Thaipusam Chariot Procession, on the specified footway.
