Pingat Pentadbiran Awam (Tentera) (the Public Administration Medal — Military)
(Amendment) Rules 1997

The President hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Pingat Pentadbiran Awam (Tentera) (The Public Administration Medal — Military) (Amendment) Rules 1997 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 11th July 1997.

New rule 5A

2. The Pingat Pentadbiran Awam (Tentera) (The Public Administration Medal — Military) Rules 1981 (G.N. No. S 256/81) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) are amended by inserting, immediately after rule 5, the following rule:

“Award of a Bar

5A.—(1) Where a member of the Singapore Armed Forces who has previously been awarded the Medal performs any special act or service for which he deserves to be awarded a Medal of the same grade, but not of a higher grade, as that which he has been awarded, he may be awarded a Bar to a Medal of that grade.

(2) A member of the Singapore Armed Forces shall not be awarded more than one Bar to a Medal of each grade.

(3) The Bar to the Medal shall —

(a)	be cupronickel-based and shall be 33 millimetres in length and 10 millimetres in width;
(b)	have a laureated border and shall be in gold, silver or bronze, depending on the grade of the Medal; and
(c)	be attached to the ribbon by which the Medal is suspended.”.

Amendment of rule 7

3. Rule 7 of the principal Rules is amended by inserting, immediately after the word “Medal” in the first line, the words “or a Bar thereto”.

Amendment of rule 8

4. Rule 8(1) of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by inserting, immediately after the word “Medal” in the first line, the words “or a Bar thereto”; and
(b)	by inserting, immediately after the word “Medal” in the fourth line, the words “or Bar”.

Amendment of rule 9

5. Rule 9 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by inserting, immediately after the word “Medal” in the first line of paragraph (1), the words “or a Bar thereto”; and
(b)	by inserting, immediately after the word “Medal” in the first and in the second lines of paragraph (2), the words “or Bar”.
