Radiation Protection
(Non‑Ionising Radiation)
(Amendment) Regulations 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 57(1) of the Radiation Protection Act 2007, the National Environment Agency, with the approval of the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Radiation Protection (Non‑Ionising Radiation) (Amendment) Regulations 2022 and come into operation on 15 January 2022.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  Regulation 2(1) of the Radiation Protection (Non‑Ionising Radiation) Regulations (Rg 1) is amended —
(a)by deleting the definitions of “clinical laboratory”, “healthcare establishment”, “maternity home”, “medical clinic”, “nursing home” and “private hospital”; and
(b)by deleting the definition of “healthcare institution” and substituting the following definition:
“ “healthcare institution” means —
(a)any premises or conveyance specified in a licence granted or deemed to be granted under the Healthcare Services Act 2020 for the provision of any licensable healthcare service; or
(b)any premises or conveyance licensed under the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act 1980 as a healthcare institution;”.
