(Amendment No. 2) Rules 2000

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4(1) of the Government Hospitals Act, the Minister for Health hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Government Hospitals (Fees) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2000 and shall come into operation on 1st August 2000.

Amendment of rule 3

2. Rule 3 of the Government Hospitals (Fees) Rules (R 1) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following:

“(2) Class B1, B2 and C patients shall pay the fees chargeable under item 9 of the Schedule at 85%, 34% and 19%, respectively, of the Class A fees subject to the following minimum and maximum fees payable by Class B2 and C patients:

(a) Alexandra Hospital

$6 (minimum)

$260 (maximum) per admission

$170 (maximum) per admission

(b) Woodbridge Hospital and View Road Hospital

$6 (minimum)

$240 (maximum) per admission or per month or part thereof, whichever is applicable

$150 (maximum) per admission or per month or part thereof, whichever is applicable.”.

Deletion of rule 5

3. Rule 5 of the principal Rules is deleted.

Amendment of Schedule

4. The Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting items 1 to 4 and substituting the following items:

by deleting paragraph (b)(i) of item 18 and substituting the following paragraph:

“

(b) Public Health Clinics

(i) Standard drugs

$1.40 per item of medicine supplied per week or part thereof, except for inhalers to be charged at $3 per unit.

For single item prescription, $1.40 per unit of dispensing preparation or per 21 doses or part thereof of medicines prescribed with 2 doses or less per day, except for inhalers to be charged at $3 per unit.

50 % of the fee for any resident 18 years of age or below who is unemployed, any resident who is a school or junior college student or any resident 65 years of age or above.

by deleting sub-paragraph (A) of paragraph (c)(ii) of item 18 and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“

(A) Standard drugs

$0.70 per item of medicine supplied per week or part thereof subject to a maximum of $3.50 for every week of medicine supplied.

”;

(i)

by deleting paragraph (2) of item 23 and substituting the following paragraph:

“

(2) Medical Report fees:

(a) Insurance, Medico-Legal, Workmen’s compensation cases, Report given by doctors in attendance of the case

$50 per report, except for one put up by a psychiatrist to be charged at $80 per report

(b) Specialist Medical Report:

(i) One put up by a consultant on his own patient, and in which the consultant’s opinion is requested for

$100 per report, except for one put up by a psychiatrist to be charged at $150 per report

(ii) On a patient who is not the consultant’s case

$250 per report, except for one put up by a psychiatrist to be charged at $400 per report.
