(Civil Defence Emergency Device)
Regulations 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 115 of the Civil Defence Act 1986, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Civil Defence (Civil Defence Emergency Device) Regulations 2022 and come into operation on 31 May 2022.
Prescribed civil defence emergency device
2.—(1)  For the purposes of paragraph (b) of the definition of “prescribed civil defence emergency device” in section 2 of the Act, a hazardous material detector, being a device that performs one or both of the following functions, is a prescribed device for the detection or monitoring of a civil defence emergency:
(a)detecting the presence of one or more hazardous materials;
(b)monitoring the level of one or more hazardous materials.
(2)  In this regulation, “hazardous material” means any substance or article that —
(a)may cause destruction of or damage to property;
(b)may cause loss of life or injury or distress to persons; or
(c)in any way endangers the safety of the public in Singapore or in any part of Singapore.
