Merchant Shipping (Authorised Organisations) Regulations 2002

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 116 of the Merchant Shipping Act, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Authorised Organisations) Regulations 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st August 2002.

Authorised organisations

2. The Director may appoint any organisation under section 5(1) of the Act and authorise such organisation to survey or inspect Singapore ships and to issue any certificate under Part V of the Act, subject to such terms and conditions as he considers fit.

Revocation, cancellation and transitional provision

3.—(1) The Merchant Shipping (Authorised Organisations) Regulations (Rg 18) are revoked.

(2) The Notification relating to Approved Organisations for Surveying Ships (N 2) is cancelled.

(3) Notwithstanding paragraphs (1) and (2), a certificate issued by an authorised organisation under the revoked Merchant Shipping (Authorised Organisations) Regulations (Rg 18) or the cancelled Notification relating to Approved Organisations for Surveying Ships (N 2) shall continue in force for such period specified in the certificate or until it is cancelled in accordance with the provisions of the Act, as if these Regulations had not been enacted.
