Central Provident Fund (Medishield Scheme — Exemption) Notification 2003
In exercise of the powers conferred by regulation 3(1)(f) of the Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme) Regulations (Rg 20), Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister of State, Ministry of Education, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Manpower, hereby makes the following Notification:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Notification may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme — Exemption) Notification 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st August 2003.
Exemption from MediShield Scheme
2.—(1)  Any member —
(a)who has made any voluntary contribution to the Fund or has received any cash grant from the Government under section 14 of the Act; and
(b)who was not insured under the MediShield Scheme established under section 53 of the Act immediately before the voluntary contribution to the Fund or the grant by the Government was made,
shall be exempted from the Scheme.
(2)  For the purpose of sub-paragraph (1), “voluntary contribution” does not include any contributions paid by an employer under section 7(4)(c) of the Act specifically for the purposes of the medisave account of his employee, to the extent of $1,500 of such contributions per year.
Cancellation
3.  The Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme — Exemption) Notification (N 1) is cancelled.
