Central Provident Fund Act
(Chapter 36)
Central Provident Fund (Workfare Income Supplement Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2009
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 57F of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Minister for Manpower hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Workfare Income Supplement Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2009 and shall come into operation on 1st September 2009.
Amendment of regulation 4
2.  Regulation 4(1) of the Central Provident Fund (Workfare Income Supplement Scheme) Regulations (Rg 36) is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “and” at the end of sub-paragraph (e)(ii); and
(b)by deleting the full-stop at the end of sub-paragraph (f) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:
(g)where the income which he has derived from Singapore or received from outside Singapore in 2007 or any subsequent year in respect of any trade, business, profession or vocation as a self-employed person does not exceed $6,000, he has on any occasion paid an additional contribution solely for the purposes of his medisave account of the following amounts, depending on his age on 1st January in each such year:
(i)an amount equal to 2.17% of that income, subject to a minimum of $13, for each year that he is below 35 years of age;
(ii)an amount equal to 2.5% of that income, subject to a minimum of $15, for each year that he has attained 35 years of age but is below 45 years of age;
(iii)an amount equal to 2.83% of that income, subject to a minimum of $17, for each year that he is 45 years of age or older.”.
Amendment of regulation 6
3.  Regulation 6 of the Central Provident Fund (Workfare Income Supplement Scheme) Regulations is amended by deleting the words “paid, for the relevant year, every contribution which he is liable to pay under the Central Provident Fund (Self-Employed Persons) Regulations (Rg 25)” in paragraphs (3) and (4) and substituting in each case the words “satisfied, for the relevant year, the requirement referred to in regulation 4(1)(f) and, where applicable, the requirement referred to in regulation 4(1)(g)”.
