Pingat Pertahanan (The Defence Medal)
(Amendment) Rules 1999

The President hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Pingat Pertahanan (The Defence Medal) (Amendment) Rules 1999 and shall come into operation on 1st September 1999.

Deletion and substitution of rule 10

2. Rule 10 of the Pingat Pertahanan (The Defence Medal) Rules 1970 (G.N. No. S 200/70) is deleted and the following rule substituted therefor:

“10.—(1) The awarding authority under rule 8 may forfeit any Medal awarded to any person under these Rules if he —

(a)	is convicted of any criminal offence;
(b)	is dismissed or removed from any uniformed organisation referred to in rule 6; or
(c)	is guilty of misconduct or disloyalty to Singapore.

(2) Any Medal so forfeited may be restored by the awarding authority at his discretion.

(3) A notice of the forfeiture or restoration of any Medal shall be published in the Orders of the respective uniformed organisations.”.
