Voluntary Sterilization
(Amendment) Regulations 2023

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 13 of the Voluntary Sterilisation Act 1974, the Minister for Health makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Regulations are the Voluntary Sterilization (Amendment) Regulations 2023 and, except for regulations 2 and 6, come into operation on 26 June 2023.

(2) Regulations 2 and 6 are deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

Amendment of regulation 1

2. In the Voluntary Sterilization Regulations 2012 (G.N. No. S 588/2012) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations), in regulation 1, replace “Sterilization” with “Sterilisation”.

New regulation 1A

3. In the principal Regulations, after regulation 1, insert —

“Definition

1A. In these Regulations, “specified website” means the Healthcare Application and Licensing Portal of the Ministry of Health at https://halp.moh.gov.sg.”.

Amendment of regulation 3

4. In the principal Regulations, in regulation 3 —

(a)	in paragraphs (1)(a) and (2), replace “Director of Medical Services” with “Director‑General of Health”;
(b)	in paragraph (1)(a), replace “in the electronic filing system of the Ministry of Health at https://elis.moh.gov.sg” with “at the specified website”; and
(c)	in paragraph (1)(c) and (d), replace “https://elis.moh.gov.sg” with “the specified website”.

Amendment of regulation 6

5. In the principal Regulations, in regulation 6(1)(a), replace “Director of Medical Services” with “Director‑General of Health”.

Miscellaneous amendments

6. In the principal Regulations —

(a)

in the following provisions, replace “sterilization” wherever it appears with “sterilisation”:

Regulation 6(1), (2) and (3)(a);

(b)

in the following provisions, in the regulation heading, replace “sterilization” with “sterilisation”:

(d)

in regulation 6(1)(e), replace “(Cap. 68)” with “2010”; and

(e)

in regulation 6(1)(f), replace “(Cap. 63A)” with “2010”.
