Building Control (Exemption for Public Authorities from Accredited Checker and Accredited Checking Organisation Requirements) Notification 2001

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 18B of the Building Control Act, the Minister for National Development hereby makes the following Notification:

Citation and commencement

1. This Notification may be cited as the Building Control (Exemption for Public Authorities from Accredited Checker and Accredited Checking Organisation Requirements) Notification 2001 and shall come into operation on 1st September 2001.

Exemption

2. Sections 16 (5B), 16A(7), 17(2) and 18(1) of the Act shall not apply to any building works —

(a)	which are carried out for the Housing and Development Board or the Land Transport Authority of Singapore; and
(b)	in respect of which an accredited checker who is an officer or employee of the Housing and Development Board or the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, as the case may be, has been appointed for the purposes of section 17(1) of the Act.

Cancellation

3. The Building Control (Exemption from Independence of Accredited Checker) (Consolidation) Notification (N 2) is cancelled.
