(Chapter 29)

Building Control (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 1997

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 50 of the Building Control Act, the Minister for National Development hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Building Control (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 1997 and shall come into operation on 19th September 1997.

Amendment of regulation 24

2. Regulation 24 of the Building Control Regulations (Rg 5) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the Table in paragraph (1) and substituting the following Table:

“

(a)	Any building works

Resident engineer.

(b)	Any building works, other than bungalows, semi-detached, terraced or linked houses up to 3 storeys, the project cost of which does not exceed $15 million

Clerk-of-works.

(c)	Any building works in respect of bungalows, semi-detached, terraced or linked houses up to 3 storeys, the project cost of which does not exceed $30 million

Clerk-of-works.

”; and

(b)

by deleting sub-paragraphs (a) and (b) of paragraph (2) and substituting the following sub-paragraphs:

“(a)	any building works, other than bungalows, semi-detached, terraced or linked houses up to 3 storeys, the project cost of which does not exceed $3 million;
(b)	any building works in respect of bungalows, semi-detached, terraced or linked houses up to 3 storeys, the project cost of which does not exceed $6 million; and
(c)	any building works consisting of repairs, alterations or additions to an existing building where the repairs, alterations or additions either do not affect the key structural elements of the building or will affect the key structural elements in a localised manner not requiring any repair, strengthening or replacement of the structural elements of the building.”.
