Employment Act

Employment (First-aid Equipment) Regulations 1996
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 93 and 139 of the Employment Act, the Minister for Labour hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Employment (First-Aid Equipment) Regulations 1996 and shall come into operation on 1st October 1996.
2.  In these Regulations, “place of employment” does not include a factory as defined in the Factories Act [Cap. 104].
3.—(1)  Subject to paragraph (2), an employer shall, for every 200 or less workmen employed by him, provide at the place of employment the following quantities and types of first-aid equipment:
(a)20 individually wrapped sterile adhesive dressings;
(b)one crepe bandage 5.0 cm;
(c)one crepe bandage 7.5 cm;
(d)absorbent gauze (one packet of 10 pieces);
(e)one adhesive plaster roll (1.25 cm width);
(f)4 triangular bandages;
(g)one pair of scissors;
(h)4 safety pins;
(i)2 pairs of disposable gloves;
(j)one one-way valve mask or mouth piece; and
(k)where tap water is not available, sterile water or saline in one 100 ml disposable container.
(2)  Where the place of employment is located in a building, an employer shall, for every 200 or less workmen employed by him on each floor of the building, provide on that floor the quantities and types of first-aid equipment referred to in paragraph (1).
4.  The employer referred to in regulation 3 shall ensure that all first-aid equipment to be provided in accordance with that regulation are in good and usable condition and are replenished as soon as possible after use.
5.  The Employment (First-Aid Equipment) Regulations are revoked.
