(Asia Tech x Singapore — Exemption)
Order 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Minister for Transport makes the following Order:
Citation
1.  This Order is the Road Traffic (Asia Tech x Singapore — Exemption) Order 2022.
Definitions
2.  In this Order —
“Asia Tech x Singapore” means the event known as Asia Tech x Singapore taking place in Singapore from 29 May 2022 to 3 June 2022 (both dates inclusive), and includes any meetings and social events connected with the event;
“chauffeured private hire car” means a motor car that —
(a)does not ply for hire on any road; and
(b)is hired, or made available for hire, under a contract (express or implied) for use as a whole with a driver for the purpose of conveying the hirer, and one or more passengers (if any), in that car;
“exempt company” means the company known as Qifshamir (UEN 53431103B).
Exemption
3.  Sections 101, 106 and 107 of the Act, and Parts II and VI of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Rules (R 14), do not apply to, or in relation to, any vehicle bearing a chassis number and an engine number specified in the Schedule that is used as a chauffeured private hire car from 29 May 2022 to 3 June 2022 (both dates inclusive) for the purpose of Asia Tech x Singapore, if all of the following conditions are satisfied in relation to the vehicle:
(a)the vehicle is used only by the exempt company or by any individual acting under the direction of the exempt company;
(b)the vehicle must display a label issued by the Registrar in the manner the Registrar requires;
(c)there is in force, at any time the vehicle is used on any road, a policy of insurance in relation to the use of that vehicle as a chauffeured private hire car, insuring against any liability in respect of —
(i)the death of or bodily injury sustained by any person (other than the driver or any passenger of that vehicle); and
(ii)any property damage suffered by any person (other than the driver or any passenger of that vehicle),
caused by or arising out of the use of that vehicle;
(d)the risk under the policy of insurance mentioned in sub‑paragraph (c) is assumed by an insurer who, at the time of the issuance of the policy, is lawfully carrying on an insurance business in Singapore;
(e)the vehicle and any of its accessories or appurtenances are clean, in proper repair and in good order and condition at all times.
