Citation and commencement |
1. These Rules may be cited as the Singapore Police Service Overseas Service Medal Rules 2007 and shall come into operation on 8th August 2007. |
Definition |
Designation of Medal |
3.—(1) A medal to be designated and styled the Pingat Seberang Laut Perhidmatan Polis Singapura (The Singapore Police Service Overseas Service Medal) (referred to in these Rules as “the Medal”) may be awarded by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs to an eligible person —

Award of Medal, Bar and Bar (Enhanced) |
4.—(1) The Medal may be awarded to any eligible person who has rendered service in any country or territory outside Singapore under one or more of the following conditions:

Description of Medal |
5.—(1) The Medal shall consist of a 5-pointed star shape medal in 925 sterling silver and shall measure 40 mm in width and 4 mm in thickness.

Description of Bar |
6.—(1) The Bar shall be represented by a clasp, in 925 sterling silver and shall measure 33 mm in length and 10 mm in width, to be attached to the ribbon by which the Medal is suspended.

Description of Bar (Enhanced) |
7. The Bar (Enhanced) shall be represented by a clasp, with numeral inscription at the centre of the upper border denoting the number of instances of participation in an operation, to be attached to the ribbon by which the Medal is suspended. |
Wearing of Medal, Bar and Bar (Enhanced) |
8.—(1) The Medal shall be worn by the recipient on the left side of the outer garment suspended by a ribbon 33 mm in width and 50 mm in length.

9. The Medal, Bar or Bar (Enhanced) shall be awarded by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs acting in accordance with the recommendation of any of the following recommending authorities:

10. The names of the persons to whom the Medal, Bar or Bar (Enhanced) is awarded shall be published in the Gazette. |
Forfeiture of award |
11.—(1) The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs may forfeit any Medal, Bar or Bar (Enhanced) awarded to any person under these Rules if the person —

Replacement of Medal, Bar and Bar (Enhanced) |
12.—(1) The loss or destruction of a Medal, Bar or Bar (Enhanced) shall, if replacement is desired, be reported by the recipient to the Commissioner of Police, the Director of Central Narcotics Bureau or the Director of Prisons, as the case may be, who may, if the relevant recommending authority is satisfied that the circumstances in which the loss or destruction occurred are such as to justify replacement, approve the replacement subject to payment made by the recipient to cover the cost of replacement thereof.

13.—(1) The Singapore Police Service Overseas Service Medal Rules 1993 (G.N. No. 3212/93) are revoked.
