(Competency Tests — Exemption)
Order 2021
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order is the Road Traffic (Competency Tests — Exemption) Order 2021 and comes into operation on 30 June 2021.
Exemption for riding without competency test certificate
2.—(1)  Sections 47G and 47K of the Act do not apply to and in relation to an individual who rides a test‑needed‑to‑ride‑on‑road vehicle on any road without a competency test certificate from a test authority for that class or description of test‑needed‑to‑ride‑on‑road vehicle certifying that the individual has passed the prescribed test of competence for that class or description of vehicle.
(2)  Section 47K of the Act does not apply to a person who employs, or allows, an individual exempt under sub‑paragraph (1) to ride a test‑needed‑to‑ride‑on‑road vehicle of a class or description on any road.
End of exemption
3.  The exemption in this Order ends on (and includes) 31 December 2021.
