Parking Places (Amendment) Rules 2000

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 4 and 8 of the Parking Places Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Parking Places (Amendment) Rules 2000 and shall come into operation on 1st October 2000.

New rule 2A

2. The Parking Places Rules (R 2) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) are amended by inserting, immediately after rule 2, the following rule:

“Parking places

2A.—(1) The Superintendent may place or erect at or near the entrance of any parking place a parking sign in accordance with any of the diagrams set out in the Second Schedule for the purpose of indicating that such parking place is a parking place provided under section 4 of the Act.

(2) All plans designating parking places shall be approved by the Superintendent and shall be available for inspection by the public free of charge during normal office hours at the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Car Parks (Housing and Development Board) at Block 187 Lorong 6, Toa Payoh #02-348, Singapore 310187 and at the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Car Parks (Urban Redevelopment Authority) at 45 Maxwell Road, Singapore 069118.

(3) The lists of roads approved by the Superintendent for the parking of vehicles are available for inspection by the public free of charge during normal office hours at the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Car Parks (Urban Redevelopment Authority) at 45 Maxwell Road, Singapore 069118.”.

Amendment of rule 23

3. Rule 23 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the word “Schedule” in the 4th line of paragraph (c) and substituting the words “First Schedule”.

Amendment of Schedule and new Second Schedule

4. The Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “THE SCHEDULE” in the heading and substituting the words “FIRST SCHEDULE”; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after the First Schedule, the following Schedule:

“SECOND SCHEDULE
