Work Injury Compensation
(Amendment) Regulations 2023

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 82 of the Work Injury Compensation Act 2019, the Minister for Manpower makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Regulations are the Work Injury Compensation (Amendment) Regulations 2023 and, except for regulation 4, come into operation on 30 June 2023.

(2) Regulation 4 is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. In the Work Injury Compensation Regulations 2020 (G.N. No. S 729/2020) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations), in regulation 2 —

(a)

renumber the regulation as paragraph (1) of that regulation; and

(b)

after paragraph (1), insert —

“(2) To avoid doubt, the reference to any hospital, clinic, healthcare establishment or other medical institution in paragraph (1) includes a reference to a person who holds a licence under the Healthcare Services Act 2020 to provide a licensable healthcare service.

(3) In paragraph (2) and the First Schedule, “licensable healthcare service” has the meaning given by section 3(1) of the Healthcare Services Act 2020.”.

Amendment of First Schedule

3. In the principal Regulations, in the First Schedule —

(a)

replace the Schedule reference with —

“Regulation 2(1) and (3)”; and

(b)

replace item 1 with —

“1.

Any person who holds a licence under the Healthcare Services Act 2020 to provide any of the following licensable healthcare services:

(a)	acute hospital service
(b)	community hospital service

1A.	Any nursing home licensed under the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act 1980”.

Miscellaneous amendments

4. In the principal Regulations —

(a)	in regulation 3(4), replace “(Cap. 354A, Rg 3)” with “(Rg 3)”;
(b)	in regulation 13, replace “(Cap. 97)” with “1893”; and
(c)	in regulation 27(1)(a), replace “(Cap. 1)” with “1965”.
