National University of Singapore Act (Amendment of University Constitution) (No. 2) Order 2004

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(2) of the National University of Singapore Act, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Senior Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Education, on the advice of the Council of the National University of Singapore, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the National University of Singapore Act (Amendment of University Constitution) (No. 2) Order 2004 and shall come into operation on 10th August 2004.

Amendment of University Constitution

2. Section 30 of the University Constitution set out in the First Schedule to the National University of Singapore Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “An officer” in subsection (1) and substituting the words “Subject to subsection (1A), an officer”; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after subsection (1), the following subsection:

“(1A) Subsection (1) shall not apply to the Chancellor or any Pro-Chancellor to the extent that he need not seek the written approval of the Council for the delegation of the exercise of any power or the performance of any duty to be exercised or performed by him.”.
