Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (Port) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2005
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 41 of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Act, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (Port) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2005 and shall come into operation on 20th July 2005.
Amendment of regulation 20
2.  Regulation 20(1) of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (Port) Regulations (Rg 7) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting the definition of “specified channel” and substituting the following definition:
“ “specified channel” means the channel stated in regulation 21 (1) or the channel specified by the Port Master under that provision;”.
Amendment of regulation 21
3.  Regulation 21 of the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after paragraph (2), the following paragraph:
(3)  The master of a vessel shall ensure that the specified channel is used only for communications relating to the operational handling, movement or safety of the vessel or (in an emergency) the safety of persons.”.
Amendment of regulation 23
4.  The principal Regulations are amended by renumbering regulation 23 as paragraph (1) of that regulation, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:
(2)  The person-in-charge of a designated communications centre may direct the master of a vessel to cease making any communication using the specified channel.”.
