Central Provident Fund Act
(Chapter 36)
Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1998
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77 (1) (j) of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Minister for Manpower, after consultation with the Central Provident Fund Board, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1998 and shall come into operation on 1st November 1998.
Amendment of regulation 12
2.  Regulation 12 of the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) Regulations (Rg 17) is amended by deleting paragraph (3A) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(3A)  No withdrawal shall be permitted under these Regulations for the payment of any charges incurred by a member in respect of any anti-retroviral drug registered in Singapore for the medical treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) except where such treatment is for the member himself.”.
Amendment of Schedule
3.  The Schedule to the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph 4 and substituting the following paragraph:
“4.Anti-retroviral drugs registered in Singapore for the medical treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)
 
With effect from 1st November 1998
 
$500 per month or the total credit balance in the member’s medisave account, whichever is the lower.”.
