Employment of Foreign Manpower (Work Pass Exemptions) (Amendment) Notification 2008

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act, Mr Gan Kim Yong, Senior Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Manpower, hereby makes the following Notification:

Citation and commencement

1. This Notification may be cited as the Employment of Foreign Manpower (Work Pass Exemptions) (Amendment) Notification 2008 and shall come into operation on 1st November 2008.

Amendment of paragraph 3

2. Paragraph 3(2) of the Employment of Foreign Manpower (Work Pass Exemptions) Notification 2007 (G.N. No. S 345/2007) is amended by deleting sub-paragraph (b) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“(b)

required to work —

(i)	for less than 16 hours per week; or
(ii)	under an industrial attachment programme conducted by his university or educational institution, as the case may be,”.

Amendment of Schedule

3. The Schedule to the Employment of Foreign Manpower (Work Pass Exemptions) Notification 2007 is amended —

(a)

by deleting item 22 in Part I and substituting the following item:

“22. Emaar International School”;

(b)

by deleting the full-stop at the end of item 39 in Part I, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following items:

“40. Government-aided Junior College

41. Government Junior College.”; and

(c)

by deleting items 8 and 12 in Part II.
