Infectious Diseases Act
(Chapter 137)
Infectious Diseases (Measures to Prevent or Control the Spread of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Regulations 2006
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 73(2)(h) of the Infectious Diseases Act, the Minister for Health hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Infectious Diseases (Measures to Prevent or Control the Spread of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Regulations 2006 and shall come into operation 1st October 2006.
Amendment of regulation 3
2.  Regulation 3 of the Infectious Diseases (Measures to Prevent or Control the Spread of Infectious Diseases) Regulations 2004 (G.N. No. S 13/2004) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:
“(1)  For the purpose of identifying any person who is, or is suspected to be, a case or carrier or contact of an infectious disease specified in the First Schedule, unless the Director otherwise allows, any person arriving in or departing from Singapore (including any person arriving for the purpose of transit or transfer from one conveyance to another) shall undergo, at such place as the Director may direct, any or all of the following medical examinations:
(a)any examination of the ear, nose or mouth;
(b)any temperature assessment using an ear, oral or cutaneous thermometer, or thermal imaging;
(c)any medical inspection;
(d)any auscultation;
(e)any external palpation.”.
Amendment of regulation 4
3.  Regulation 4 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after the words “a case” wherever it appears in paragraphs (1) and (2), the words “or carrier or contact”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after the words “a case” in paragraph (6)(b), the words “or carrier or contact”.
Amendment of First Schedule
4.  The First Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by numbering the existing item as item 1, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following item:
“2.  Avian influenza.”.
Amendment of Second Schedule
5.  The Second Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by numbering the existing item as item 1, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following item:
“2.  Avian influenza.”.
