Factories (Shipbuilding and Ship-repairing) (Amendment) Regulations 1999

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 68 and 102 of the Factories Act, the Minister for Manpower hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Factories (Shipbuilding and Ship-repairing) (Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into operation on 15th January 2000.

Amendment of regulation 40

2. Regulation 40(3) of the Factories (Shipbuilding and Ship-repairing) Regulations (Rg 11, 1999 Ed.) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting the words “from the ship repair manager”.

Amendment of regulation 53

3. Regulation 53 (2) of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)	by inserting, immediately after the semi-colon in sub-paragraph (a), the word “and”;
(b)	by deleting the word “; and” at the end of sub-paragraph (b) and substituting a full-stop; and
(c)	by deleting sub-paragraph (c).

Deletion and substitution of regulation 87

4. Regulation 87 of the principal Regulations is deleted and the following regulation substituted therefor:

“Number of persons allowed in each bay

87. Subject to regulation 91(9), no more than 4 persons shall be allowed in any one bay of a scaffold.”.

Amendment of regulation 91

5. Regulation 91 (1) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “635 mm” in sub-paragraph (b) and substituting the words “500 mm”.

Amendment of regulation 92

6. Regulation 92 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (5).

Amendment of regulation 93

7. Regulation 93 (1) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “200 mm” in sub-paragraph (b) and substituting the words “90 mm”.

Amendment of regulation 102

8. Regulation 102 (1) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “635 mm” in sub-paragraph (d) (i) and substituting the words “500 mm”.
