(Pro Bono Legal Services)
(Amendment) Rules 2024
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 34(2) of the Legal Profession Act 1966, the Minister for Law makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1)  These Rules are the Legal Profession (Pro Bono Legal Services) (Amendment) Rules 2024 and, except for rules 2 and 3(c) to (f), come into operation on 17 July 2024.
(2)  Rules 2 and 3(c) to (f) are deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  In the Legal Profession (Pro Bono Legal Services) Rules 2013 (G.N. No. S 658/2013), in rule 2 —
(a)in the definition of “charity”, replace “(Cap. 37)” with “1994”;
(b)in the definition of “institution of a public character”, replace “section 40A of the Charities Act” with “section 40 of the Charities Act 1994”; and
(c)in the definition of “National Council of Social Service”, replace “(Cap. 195A)” with “1992”.
Amendment of rule 3
3.  In the Legal Profession (Pro Bono Legal Services) Rules 2013, in rule 3 —
(a)replace “in respect only of his” with “or lawyer (NP) in respect only of his or her”;
(b)in paragraph (a), replace “either or both” with “any one or more”;
(c)in paragraph (a)(ii), replace “(Cap. 321)” with “1970”;
(d)in paragraph (a)(iii), delete “(Act 27 of 2014)”;
(e)in paragraph (b), replace “(Cap. 37)” with “1994”; and
(f)in paragraph (d), replace “(Cap. 195A)” with “1992”.
