Women’s Charter (Registration of Marriages) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2001

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 180(1) of the Women’s Charter, the Minister for Community Development and Sports hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Women’s Charter (Registration of Marriages) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2001 and shall come into operation on 1st December 2001.

Amendment of rule 4

2. Rule 4(2) of the Women’s Charter (Registration of Marriages) Rules (R 3) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting “$42” and substituting “$200”.

Amendment of rule 5

3. Rule 5 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (1) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“(b)

where both parties to the marriage are not citizens of Singapore and the marriage is to be solemnized on the following days:

(i) Monday to Friday

$128;

(ii) Saturday

$198;

(iii) a special marriage solemnization date

$298 and ”;

(b)

by deleting paragraphs (2) and (3) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(2) A fee of $15 shall be payable for each application for a change of date, time or venue for marriage solemnization.”.

Amendment of rule 6

4. Rule 6 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting “$125” in paragraph (3) and substituting “$200”; and

(b)

by deleting paragraph (4) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(4) A fee of $250 shall be payable for the issue of a special marriage licence under section 21 of the Act for the solemnization of a marriage where any party to the marriage is below the age of 18 years.”.

Amendment of rule 12

5. Rule 12 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$12” and substituting “$42”.

Amendment of rule 13

6. Rule 13 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(1) The fee payable for the issue of a certified true copy of any entry in the register of marriages shall be —

(a)	$70 for any marriage solemnized in Singapore before 15th September 1961; and
(b)	$50 for any marriage solemnized in Singapore on or after 15th September 1961.”.

Amendment of rule 14

7. Rule 14 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(1) A fee of $35 shall be payable for a search or inspection of the register of marriages.”.

Amendment of rule 15

8. Rule 15 (2) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$42” and substituting “$55”.
