Building Control (Retrofitting of Casement Windows) Order 2004 |

Citation and commencement |
1. This Order may be cited as the Building Control (Retrofitting of Casement Windows) Order 2004 and shall come into operation on 1st October 2004. |

3. This Order shall apply to casement windows which —

5. For the purposes of section 22B(1) of the Act, where any casement window to which this Order applies has been installed on or forms part of a building before 1st October 2004, the person responsible for that casement window shall engage an approved window contractor to carry out retrofitting of that casement window —

6.—(1) No person shall retrofit any casement window unless he is a trained window installer who is —

Retrofitting requirements |
7.—(1) Every approved window contractor and every trained window installer engaged to carry out retrofitting of a casement window shall retrofit the casement window by replacing all its aluminium rivets at the variable geometry stays with stainless steel rivets of type 304 complying with BS EN 10088 or its equivalent.

Retrofitting report |
8. The person responsible shall, as soon as is reasonably practicable after the retrofitting works under paragraph 5 have been completed, submit a report of the completed retrofitting works to the Commissioner of Building Control, in such form as the Commissioner of Building Control shall determine. |
