Order 2012

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1. This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (National University of Singapore Electric Vehicles Trial) (Exemption) Order 2012.

Definition

2. In this Order, “specified vehicle” means a Toyota COMS —

(a)	that is distributed in Singapore by Toyota Tsusho (Singapore) Pte Ltd; and
(b)	that is used by National University of Singapore or Toyota Tsusho (Singapore) Pte Ltd for the purpose of conducting a usability study and trial.

Exemption

3. Part I, sections 90 and 91 of the Act and the rules specified in the First Schedule shall not apply to any specified vehicle used on any road within the area specified in the Second Schedule from 10th January 2012 to 31st December 2014 (both dates inclusive), subject to the following conditions:

(a)	there shall be in force at all times in relation to the use of the specified vehicle by any person a policy of insurance insuring against any liability in respect of the death of, or bodily injury sustained by, any person caused by or arising out of the use of the specified vehicle; and
(b)	the policy of insurance referred to in sub-paragraph (a) must be issued by an insurer who at the time the policy is issued is lawfully carrying on insurance business in Singapore.
